Family Business
Puerto Rico Distillery is led by father-daughter team Angel Rivera and Crystal Rivera. This Rivera team is originally from Comerío, Puerto Rico and settled in Columbia, Maryland after completing a Navy career. They launched their distillery in March 2020 (when the COVID pandemic started) in Frederick and started plans to relocate their distillery in late 2023. After a lot of work to renovate a historic building, they are planning to open in Brunswick by March 2026.
Rooted in Culture & Tradition
Angel and Crystal are also members of Cultura Plenera, an award-winning nonprofit that builds community through the practice, teaching, and sharing of their Puerto Rican culture in the state of Maryland.
