Pitorro is the first and true rum of Puerto Rico. First referenced in 1797 and historically made as moonshine, this clandestine spirit is still sold underground on the island and shared by families and friends on holidays and special occasions. A traditional rum distilled from sugarcane molasses, Pitorro continues to be an integral part of Puerto Rican culture.
Our standard offerings include:
- Classic Clandestino. This unflavored Pitorro is a blank canvas for you to truly taste the nature of sugarcane rum Pitorro. Whether enjoyed straight, mixed into your favorite cocktail, or blended into your own custom home recipe, we invite you to the underground world of Pitorro.
- Traditional Clandestino. Our first flavored Pitorro release is a family recipe handed down by Angel's father - Don Ángel. Traditional Clandestino is a Pitorro rum flavored with raisins, prunes and cranberries, delivering a subtle sweetness to the palate.
- Almond Clandestino. This second flavored Clandestino is a very popular Pitorro flavor! This delicious rum is made with our premier Clandestino, almond extract, brown sugar, and local honey from the University of Maryland. A real treat!
- Coconut Clandestino. This Pitorro is flavored with fresh, sweet coconut and has a light fruity aroma reminding us of Puerto Rican summers.
- Coffee Clandestino. This spirit encapsulates the dark Caribbean coffee with notes of molasses and bold aroma. Made with coffee toasted for us in Manatí, Puerto Rico.
- Pineapple Clandestino. For this spirit, we infused our Pitorro with dried pineapple chunks and honey for its bright and sweet flavors to shine.
Besides our standard offerings, we have also done the following Special Releases: Coconut Chai, Tamarind, Passionfruit, Honey Mango, Kiwi, Butter Pecan, Pineapple Ginger, and Guava Pineapple Clandestino. And stay tuned for what is coming next!
